About London Lightning Fastball
Our goal is to provide an opportunity for girls of all ages, in London and the surrounding Western Ontario area, to play competitive fastball at the elite Tier 1 Level with the goal of competing for Provincial and National Championships.

The London Girls Competitive Fastball Association was founded in 1987 by Dave Hyman and we adopted the name London Lightning in 1996. We began with two teams and eventually grew to where we had up to seven teams ranging from Mite to Senior age levels.

We play two games each week during the season which lasts from early May until early August. One game each week is played at our home Stronach Park diamonds on Sanford Street in Northeast London, the other game is on the road. In all, there are between 20 and 25 league games per season, plus tournaments, playoffs and provincial Qualifiers and Championships.

London Lightning has hosted several Provincial Qualifiers, Elimination Tournaments and Grand Championships. In 1997, we hosted our first National Championships at the Midget Level. Lightning teams have won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Provincial Championships. In 1997, our Novice team won the Gold Medal at the Eastern Canadian Championships in Laval, Quebec. More recently, our Midget A team took Bronze at the 2000 Midget Nationals in Brandon Manitoba.

Playing at the elite level has been rewarding in other ways. About 20 Lightning players have been awarded scholarships to universities and colleges in the United States. And in 2002, our Novice team made it to the National Championships in Winnipeg where they finished fifth.

Every year, in June, we also play host to the Dorothy Hill/London Lightning Fastball Tournament which attracts some of the best teams and players from across Ontario and beyond.
